Roy Rawson - Thoroughbred Horse Trainer
The Sport of Kings expresses deep sadness in the passing of Roy Rawson.

Roy Rawson worked at the racetrack since he was 12 years old. For the last 21 years, he was among the top ten trainers and won close to 400 races.

Roy had particular success with 2-year-olds. He won the Futurity twice in 1991 with Designatedtodrive and Big Gentry in 1993.

He rated Commander Bold and Darcia as the two best horses he ever trained. Roy developed Darcia himself. Commander Bold, he took over as an older horse.

In 1998, he continued with his success as a trainer, finishing tied for sixth place with 32 wins.

His presence will be missed at Hastings Park and at his farm in Maple Ridge.  We at the Sport of Kings are grateful to his support of our TV program and for his contribution to Horse Racing in BC.

Farewell friend.
